PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said they already summoned John Amores last October 1 and asked him to submit a written explanation.
ANTIPOLO — PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said the league is mulling over possible sanctions for embattled NorthPort guard John Amores.
This came over a week after Amores was involved in a shooting incident in Lumban, Laguna, where he shot an unspecified firearm on a 32-year-old man after a pick up game gone sour last September 25.

Amores later surrendered to authorities and was charged with attempted homicide.

The league summoned Amores on Tuesday, October 1, and asked him to submit a written explanation after violating certain provisions in the PBA's Uniform Players’ Contract (UPC).
Present in the meeting were Batang Pier governor Erick Arejola and manager Waiyip Chong, deputy commissioner Eric Castro, and Atty. Melvin Mendoza.
“Sa UPC kailangan proper decorum ka inside and outside the court. Madami yun, pati sa mga kaso. Nasa UPC yun. Sumagot na. Bingay ko kay Atty. Ogie, pag uusapan namin maybe next week,” said Marcial.
Asked whether Amores still has a live contract with NorthPort, Marcial answered in the affirmative.
“Oo live pa rin. Kaya yun nga paguusapan kung papano. Dire-diretso pa ba yung kontrata, yun pa yung kailangan pag usapan,” he said.
Marcial later said that the former Jose Rizal University cager already submitted an answer on Friday, October 4.
However, Marcial politely refused to divulge any more details.
“So nagusap kami. Sorry di ko masabi sa inyo kasi nasa korte na usapan. Pero sinabi ko lang na ayusin nya. Nagso-sorry sya. Pero sumagot na rin. Binigay namin Tuesday, Friday yata nagkasalubong kami sa office. Binigay nya sagot,” said Marcial.
“Pagaaralan na namin ng legal, nina Atty. Ogie Narvasa at [Governor] Erick Arejola. Siguro mag-meeting kami next week kung ano mang sinagot nya.”

Marcial said he will meet with PBA’s legal team, including Atty. Ogie Narvasa, to talk about the possible sanctions.
“As of now wala pa (suspension). Pero pwede. Pero yun nga tinitignan namin kung papano. Kailangan ba suspend? Pwede ba sya maglaro sa PBA o hindi na? O habang may kaso? So yun mga pinagaaralan. Nagkaron tayo ng due process sa kanya,” he said.
