The visitors have been here since August and they have probably done every touristy thing here.
Bay Area import Andrew Nicholson’s PBA Commissioner’s Cup stint is basically over.
Down with a left ankle injury, the Canadian reinforcement is forced to watch from the sidelines as the Dragons gun for the mid-season conference title against Ginebra in Game 7 on Sunday.
The visiting team has been in the country since August and perhaps it was introduced to the Filipino culture, especially food.
Speaking of food, Nicholson said it’s one of the things he will definitely miss on top of the weather and the signature Filipino hospitality.
“Definitely gonna miss the food,” he said before Game 6 which the Dragons won behind fellow import Myles Powell.
“People are really nice. They really welcomed me here with warm, open arms. Weather is amazing.”
Actually, the 6-foot-10 NBA veteran is no stranger to Filipino cuisine. He is a part-owner of a Max’s Fried Chicken restaurant in Canada as well as Crane Express, which features Pinoy desserts like his favorite halo-halo.
Yet he was still shocked to learn the tropical country has the “best mangoes.”
“Oddly enough, you guys have the best mangoes. I want to be honest with you. Definitely gonna miss that,” he said.
Despite all the drama brought about by the ongoing best-of-seven series against crowd favorite Ginebra and his unfortunate injury, the 33-year-old has two words to describe the Philippines.
“Truly amazing,” he said.
