Mark your calendars: 8 matchups to watch in the PBA Governors’ Cup
PBA

Yes, the PBA is back — just one week after Barangay Ginebra wrapped up the Commissioner’s Cup with a resounding, attendance record-breaking Game 7 victory. The Governors’ Cup begins on Sunday, January 22, and the official schedule of games is out:

After looking at the schedule, we marked these eight games as the must-watch variety. We suggest you do the same.

Meralco vs Rain or Shine (January 22)

James Yap returns. The high-flying Mike Qualls takes flight again. And KJ McDaniels begins another tour of duty. Those make the opening game of the PBA’s season-ender compelling if you ask us.

Converge vs NorthPort (January 22)

Two retooled teams get to see right away if they made the right moves in the offseason. Also, the Robert Bolick-Joshua Munzon backcourt is potentially explosive — and fun.

Magnolia vs TNT (February 3)

An early matchup between two perennial title contenders, an early acid test for both.

Ginebra vs Magnolia (February 12)

Manila Clasico. Need we say more?

San Miguel vs Ginebra (February 17)

The Philippine Cup champions going up against the Commissioner’s Cup winners. Again, nothing much to nitpick here.

San Miguel vs TNT (February 19)

Games between two championship favorites are always a treat. This is one of them, and it is also a rematch of the Philippine Cup Finals.

Meralco vs Ginebra (March 1)

These two teams have developed what can be considered a rivalry over the years, and they get to renew it once more. And, after contesting the Governors’ Cup Finals four times previously, this game might turn out to be a Finals preview.

TNT vs Ginebra (March 17)

This has always been a marquee matchup, and by this time, it might have playoff positioning implications.

So, which games are you most excited to watch in the Governors’ Cup?
