Gorayeb may be one of the fiercest mentors in volleyball, with countless hilarious spiels during timeouts, but he definitely left imprints in his players’ lives.
Just ask these former Ateneo volleybelles.
In an Instagram story on Tuesday, Valdez and Lazaro paid tribute to their former coach, with Valdez expressing his gratitude to the outspoken mentor.
“One of the coaches who took a chance on me,” said the Creamline Cool Smashers star. “I’ll be forever thankful.”
Lazaro posted a photo with the multi-titled tactician and Ferrer with the caption, “Love you coach @rogergorayeb.”
The former PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters coach in the PVL was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2019. But after several cycles of chemotherapy and dialysis, he was declared cancer-free on Father’s Day in 2020.
He now handles the San Sebastian Lady Stags in the NCAA.
