Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s RJ Abarrientos pops the question to his girlfriend, print ad and commercial model Arlove De Jesus, during a romantic getaway in the breathtaking El Nido, Palawan.
It was always meant to be for RJ Abarrientos and Arlove De Jesus, even if they didn’t know it at the time. Both attended Far Eastern University, but their paths didn’t cross until much later.
Back in college, RJ played a crucial role for the FEU Tamaraws during their Final Four run in UAAP Season 84, while Arlove was a correspondent for the team.
Though they shared the same campus and the same world, their connection would only unfold later in life.
In September, RJ posted a vlog of him and Arlove enjoying a carefree moment in the car, while Arlove was frequently seen cheering him on both on and off the court. It was clear their connection was growing stronger every day.
While the Gin Kings didn’t clinch the championship in the PBA Season 49 Governors' Cup Finals, RJ found the greatest victory of all—the [Ar]love of his life.
During their vacation in El Nido, Palawan, RJ orchestrated the perfect proposal—a romantic dinner with neon lights spelling out "Will you Marry Me?" When Arlove answered "Yes".
The moment was sealed with a sweet hug and a romantic dance, marking the beginning of their forever.
“I love you so much, fiancée!” RJ wrote on his Instagram.
“I love you forever, silly! I’m always thanking the Lord for your life. Hanggang dulo, mahal ko,” Arlove posted on her Facebook account.
