With Rainer Maga's stunning exit from UE lore, the Red Warriors now lost the player they once thought to be the next man after Rey Remogat.
Rainer Maga’s stint in UE is now over.
In a shock move, Maga decided to move on from the Red Warriors after a breakout UAAP Season 87 campaign.
The 23-year-old penned a heartfelt farewell to the team and its fans, admitting he “was at a loss for words” in making what he described as a “difficult decision.” Maga, though, did not reveal his next plans moving forward.
The six-foot Davaoeño logged 8.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in Season 87, helping the Red Warriors finish with 6-8 record and just missed the Final Four after losing to the Adamson Soaring Falcons in the playoff for the no. 4 seed.
Fast forward to 2025 and UE lost the player they once thought to be Rey Remogat’s replacement after his transfer to the UP Fighting Maroons early last year.

“I am deeply indebted to everyone I played with and was coached by. I will always look back on the experiences and memories we shared, and the lessons that came with them—lessons that molded me into the player I am today,” Maga wrote.
He added: “Thank you for everything, UE—from welcoming me, taking care of me as a player, and shaping me into the person I am now. It has been an honor to represent the greatness of the Red and White.”
