Vietnam’s VTV Binh Dien Long An overcame a gritty stand put up by Chinese Taipei’s Kaohsiung Taipower to make their way to the 2025 AVC Women's Champions League semifinals.
Vietnam’s VTV Binh Dien Long An will make their way to the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League semifinals after holding off Chinese Taipei’s Kaohsiung Taipower in four sets, 25-22, 17-25, 25-22, 28-26, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig Friday, April 25.
Clinging on to their two-point lead for most of the fourth set, Binh Dien Long An pulled ahead for a 21-17 lead after back-to-back kill blocks against Taipower.
But the Chinese Taipei squad would not go away that easily, eventually tying the game at 24-all after Hsin-Yu Huang’s off-the-block hit.
Tied at 27-all, Thi Nhu Quynh Vi put Binh Dien Long An at match point before a net touch violation was called on Taipower, which sealed the victory.
Thi Phuong Lu led the charge for the Vietnamese squad with 20 points, while Vi and Thi Thanh Thuy Tran, more known as T4, contributed 18 and 14 markers, respectively.
Hsu paced Taipower with 20 points, which was backed by Yu-Chun Tsai’s 14 points.
Binh Dien Long An will now await the winner of the Petro Gazz-BAIC Motor quarterfinal match to see who their semis opponent will be on Saturday, April 26.
