Pauline Gaston shares one word that best describes new Chery Tiggo

“Hungry.”

That’s how Pauline Gaston described the Chery Tiggo Crossovers when asked about her team on One Sports' The Game on Thursday.

Given how the Crossovers almost made it to the semifinals of the PVL All-Filipino Conference, that word seems apt.

“I can really feel in each of the players that have come in, and the ones who were retained, everyone is hungry to play, to perform, and we know this new conference has only a few games. So, every set, every game counts,” Gaston said.

Add to that the fact that the team welcomed rookies Eya Laure and Imee Hernandez, who came to close to a championship, but ultimately wrapped up their UAAP journey with the UST Golden Tigresses empty-handed.

Chery Tiggo also added former NU Lady Bulldogs Cess Robles, Jen Nierva, and Joyme Cagande, who bowed to La Salle Green Archers in the just-concluded UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball finals. They, did, however, win a championship the season before.

Safe to say, everyone on the team is definitely craving for a taste of a championship.

“This new Chery Tiggo team, with only the short amount of time we were given to prepare, I can tell with the energy in training, everyone’s really hungry,” she reiterated.

The problem, though, is getting on the same page.

“‘Yun nga lang, we’re just trying to get the groove because we all come from different systems, we come from different teams which have adapted different kinds of defensive patterns and attack patterns. We’re still adjusting, and hopefully we will peak at the right time,” she added.

They better do, as the PVL Invitational Conference will be a sprint of a tournament.
