Turns out, the answer is you listen carefully and intently.
That's what Creamline Cool Smashers middle blocker Celine Domingo did to completely blow away Phenom Alyssa Valdez with her birthday present.
"The gift that I will give to Ate Ly, will contribute to her volleyball career," Domingo said in an Instagram story.
Domingo had Valdez cover her eyes and count down, "Ready? One, two, three."
What the Phenom saw when she opened her eyes made her jump giddily. Kilig siya eh.
Domingo's gift turned out to be Japan volleyball team captain Yuki Ishikawa's jersey, and the backstory behind the gift made it more special.
"In one of our trainings, I jokingly mentioned na I want Yuki's jersey for my birthday," Valdez responded in a repost.
"And this girl, grabe, naalala niya. The little things! Thank you so much, Celine. Labyu."
