There’s no doubt Foton Tornadoes ace Shaya Adorador has improved in leaps and bounds since donning the national team colors in the AVC Challenge Cup last month.

Just ask her coaches and teammates.

“Na-boost morale niya after nung Challenge Cup sa Indonesia,” said coach Brian Esquibel in a video uploaded by the PVL on its official Youtube channel.

“Makikita mo nakangiti siya all the way, kahit pagod na pagod na siya, pinapakita niya na, ‘Ito pa rin ‘yung bibigay ko, 'yung best ko.’”

That was none more evident on Saturday, as Adorador dropped 24 points in Foton’s 18-25, 23-25, 31-29, 25-20, 18-16 win over Farm Fresh Foxies in the PVL Invitational Conference.

Adorador is averaging 16 points per game.

In the same video shot before the mid-season conference commenced, Foton setter Jasmine Nabor echoed Esquibel’s assessment.

“Mas naging leader pa siya. Hindi man siya ganun ka vocal, pero sa actions niya grabe niya kami nadadala,” Nabor said.

Even though the national team bannered by veteran Aiza Maizo-Pointillas wound up seventh in the tournament held in Indonesia, Adorador gained a lot more. But she deflected credit to her Foton teammates for making things easy for her.

“May doubts pero sa tulong nila, magagampanan ko naman po [role ko]. Kahit maraming pagbabago, kahit hindi mo sabihin, gagalaw sila. Talagang [magaan] sa pakiramdam na willing sila gawin ‘yun para sa team,” she said.
