The Farm Fresh Foxies had a perfect start on Thursday to win their first-ever set in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference.

The Akari Chargers, however, terminated the Foxies' early joy by sweeping the last three frames to get the victory, 21-25, 26-24, 25-15, 25-21, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Akari had a scare against the young Farm Fresh but quickly regrouped to improve to 3-1 for solo second place in the team standings.

Prized rookie Fifi Sharma recorded her best game so far for the Chargers, scoring 14 points while leaving her fingerprints all over the match right from the onset.

"Each and every one of us put pressure on ourselves to fulfill our roles and have an impact. The effectiveness of our team right now can be credited to everyone's hard work," said Sharma.

The 22-year-old middle blocker surprised many when she decided to leave the De La Salle Lady Spikers to join the PVL, especially coming off a UAAP championship. But she's proven quickly that she's indeed ready for the next level.

Sharma got ample support against Farm Fresh from Erika Raagas, who also scored double digits. The former Ateneo Blue Eagles standout bared that they won't settle for anything less than a medal.

"We want to get that podium finish. Everyone's coming in this conference super motivated, super hungry to win, and now that we have the people that we need, the things that we were lacking the past few seasons, we're more than ready to fight for that podium finish," said Raagas.

She stressed that they don't like their sacrifices to go for naught.

"This is what we've been training for. We wake up at 5:30 a.m., we train twice a day, we didn't come here to lose," added the steady opposite hitter.

With their fourth straight loss this conference, the Foxies are still looking for their maiden win since making their debut in the PVL Invitational Conference. They have now lost all of their nine games.

The Chargers will aim for three wins in a row when they battle the Cignal HD Spikers on Tuesday.

The Foxies, meanwhile, face another daunting task when they meet the league-leading Creamline Cool Smashers on that same day.
