Her foreign experience will prove to be mutually beneficial.
The Creamline Cool Smashers have a perfect record so far in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference. But that doesn’t mean that they don’t miss their key players who have embarked on their journey abroad.
After the Cool Smashers’ sweep of the Gerflor Defenders on Thursday, coach Sherwin Meneses was once again asked about Ced Domingo’s decision to play abroad.
Domingo is set to play in the Women's Volleyball Thailand League for the Nakhon Ratchasima VC.
The 5-foot-9 middle blocker is following in the footsteps of her former Creamline teammate Jia De Guzman, who has been adjusting well to playing in the Japan V.League.
“Very supportive 'yung management namin (kay Ced) and kami rin sa staff namin,” Meneses said during the postgame press conference. “Talagang sinusuportahan namin kung ano 'yung mga dream nila.”
For the Creamline mentor, it’s not just the players who will greatly benefit from their overseas experience.
“Magbe-benefit naman siguro 'yung Philippines tsaka 'yung management namin,” said Meneses.
While Creamline will indeed miss the services of Domingo, a two-time Best Middle Blocker and a one-time Finals MVP, the team has been finding its groove with its bench players, who have been given more playing time.
The powerhouse Cool Smashers are atop the team standings with a clean 3-0 slate.
