How does a star athlete, who is focused on training for the Olympics, keep his relationship with his loved one strong?
World number two pole vaulter EJ Obiena dished on the secret as he spoke to Creamline Cool Smasher captain Alyssa Valdez for a vlog as they tried to cook pasta.
"Constant communication," Obiena said in a matter-of-fact tone. The pole vaulter, who trains in Italy, recently celebrated his anniversary with German triple jumper Caroline Joyeux.
"You try to schedule, put time for it. You value that," he said. "If you're gonna call for an hour or two, then an hour or two will be for your special person. You need to focus on that."
And then he asked the question everyone wanted to ask Valdez. "How about you?"
Valdez couldn't help but be flustered and try to run out of frame as she laughed with popular vlogger and good friend Mimiyuuuh.
"In any relationship naman, smart, effective communication 'yung makakapag-build ng long-lasting relationship," Valdez said.
"You have to have some differences also because that will make you realize na makikilala niyo ang isa't isa," she added.
And then she laughed. "Wala na kong masabi!"
This prompted Mimiyuuh to ask her the most difficult of questions off-screen.
"Anong favorite mong color? What's your motto in life?"
