Chery Tiggo Crossovers assistant coach Kungfu Reyes could only heave a sigh of relief after his team hammered out a 22-25, 31-29, 25-23, 28-26 win over Nxled Chameleons in the PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference on Thursday.

After the game that pretty much had everyone at the edge of their sets the entire time, Reyes heaped praise on the Chameleons.

“Talagang ‘yung mga puntos na nakukuha namin, talagang pinaghihirapan. Taas ng level ng nilalaro ng kabila,” Reyes said of the Chamelons, who remained mired in the cellar with a 1-5 win-loss record.

Reyes rued the Crossovers’ cold start which the Chameleons capitalized on to push them to their limits.

Fortunately for Reyes, his wards refused to fold in the face of adversity.

“Masyadong maaga pagpaparamdam ng Pasko. Masyado kaming nilalamig,” he said.

“Talagang mas maganda nilaro ni Nxled especially dun sa first part ng game. All throughout naman andiyan sila pero nakakabalik kami so y’un naman pinakamaganda na ginawa naminas a group.”

Now 5-1 in the top-heavy standings, the Crossovers will be put to the test anew when they take on PLDT High Speed Hitters on Saturday.

Gametime is set at 6 p.m. at the same venue.
