The Cignal HD Spikers made quick work of the Galeries Tower Highrisers for a 2-0 start in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The Cignal HD Spikers orchestrated a straight-set drubbing of the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 25-14, 25-16, 25-17, to pick up their second consecutive win in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena on Saturday.
Except for brief moments at the onset of each set, the HD Spikers dictated the tempo and created commanding separations en route to a 2-0 winning start.
"Ang sarap ng pakiramdam ulit, siyempre panalo. But siyempre, mas kailangan ulit namin manalo after this. Thankful and happy," Cignal head coach Shaq Delos Santos said after the match.
Knotted at eight in the decisive third, Cignal shattered the deadlock with its high-octane offense, mounting a 23-17 cushion.
Ces Molina then unfurled a service bomb to put the HD Spikers at match point before the Highrisers coughed out a lethal error that sealed the deal.
Molina topbilled with 14 points built on 12 attacks and two aces, emerging as the lone double-digit scorer in the 89-minute match. She also had six receptions and five digs.
Vanie Gandler backstopped with seven markers in two sets played, while Roselyn Doria and Jovelyn Gonzaga scored six apiece.
Dawn Macandili-Catindig patrolled the floor with 14 digs and six receptions.
Gel Cayuna dished out 15 excellent sets, powering Cignal's offense that outgunned Galeries Tower with a 41-22 spike differential.
Ysa Jimenez paced the losing cause with nine points and five digs as the Highrisers fell to 0-2.
Graze Bombita had seven markers, while Andrea Marzan finished with six.
Cignal will try to make it 3-0 when it faces Nxled, while Galeries Tower will gun for an upset when it attempts a breakthrough versus Creamline on March 7, Thursday.
Both matches will be held at the same Pasig venue. These will be aired on One Sports, One Sports+, and the Pilipinas Live app.
