Kevin Quiambao set the pace for the Goyang Sono Skygunners as they started out strong en route to a 76-63 victory over the Seoul Samsung Thunders at the Jamsil Arena in the 2024-25 KBL season on Sunday, February 9.

Quiambao, who has consistently churned out double-digit outputs for Goyang since his return from injury, led the SkyGunners with a team-high 17 points which he padded with five rebounds and six assists.

 

 

He was one of three players from the visitors who breached double digits, with Lee Jae-Do playing a supporting role with 14 points, four rebounds, and three assists.

Meanwhile, Justin Gutang, Seoul’s Filipino import, had six markers, three boards, and two assists in the losing effort.

Goyang and Seoul are at the bottom of the KBL standings with identical 12-25 slates.

In the other games, JD Cagulangan and the Suwon KT Sonicboom could not make it past the league-leading Seoul SK Knights, 85-74, at the Suwon KT Sonicboom Arena.

Cagulangan couldn’t create much opportunities for his team as he was limited to just five points, one rebound, and three assists in 29 minutes of action.

Jameel Warney paced Seoul in the victory with 21 points, 14 boards, five assists, and one steal.

SK Knights Filipino import Juan Gomez de Liaño did not see action in the win which puts Seoul at 31-7. They are currently on a six-game winning streak.

Suwon, for its part, dropped to 21-17.

Meanwhile, SJ Belangel contributed 10 points, two rebounds, and two assists in a tough 69-66 loss for the Daegu KOGAS Pegasus against the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus at the Daegu Gymnasium.

Ulsan rode Gaige Prim’s 23 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and one steal to the victory with a pivotal 10-2 run to end the game.

Filipino import Migs Oczon had three points in almost 14 minutes of action for the victors.

Ulsan is currently second in the standings with a 23-14 slate. KOGAS, for their part, are at 20-17.
