The Akari Chargers arrested their two-game losing start and found their winning ways after drubbing the Farm Fresh Foxies in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Coming off two deflating losses to start the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference, Akari finally snapped out of its funk Tuesday night.
The Chargers dumped their frustrations over the Farm Fresh Foxies for a 25-19, 25-15, 25-22 win at the PhilSports Arena.
After securing the first two frames in dominant fashion. Akari found itself down 17-19 in the decisive third. The Chargers then banked on their stifling defense to flip the script and take a commanding 23-21 lead.
Grethcel Soltones blocked Trisha Tubu in the ensuing sequence to put Akari at match point. Kate Santiago tried to stop the bleeding for Farm Fresh but Eli Soyud nailed the clincher.
Soltones put up a double-double of 16 points and 10 receptions for the Chargers, who improved to 1-2.
Soyud and Erika Raagas contributed 14 and 10 markers, with the latter adding nine receptions to her name.
Ced Domingo and Fifi Sharma made their presence above the net with four and two blocks to end up with nine and eight points, respectively.
Mich Cobb fanned out 16 excellent sets for Akari, which outgunned Farm Fresh in the spiking department, 47-33. She also had six digs and three markers.
It was a collective effort for the Chargers, much to the delight of coach Raffy Mosuela.
"Well ang masasabi ko lang ay credits to the players 'to. Ginawa nila talaga 'yung gameplan namin. Kung ano naman napag aralan namin sa Farm Fresh, kita naman sa results," he said.
Tubu was the lone double-digit scorer for Farm Fresh with 10.
Chinnie Arroyo and Santiago chipped in nine and seven markers, respectively, for the Foxies, who dropped to 1-2.
Akari aims to carry over momentum when its faces Petro Gazz, while Farm Fresh seeks to regain its winning ways when it collides with Chery Tiggo on March 9, Saturday.
Both matches will be held at the FilOil EcoOil Arena.
