Fifi Sharma and the rest of the Akari crew are embracing the arduous climb for a semifinals berth in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The Chargers took a while to pick up winning momentum in the first half of its campaign, but they stayed the course, gaining ground late in the Final Four race on Thursday, April 11.
Behind the spirited 25-point performance of Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Akari kept its bid afloat with a sweep of the also-ran Capital1 Solar Spikers, 25-17, 25-14, 25-20, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
"'Yung pagde-develop ng chemistry, 'yung pag ge-gel ng team talaga, it takes time. Ang maganda lang siguro sa team namin is everyone is staying patient,” said Sharma, who contributed seven points in the victory.
“Kahit na talo kami or kahit na maraming challenges na pumupunta sa way namin, talagang tinatrabaho pa rin namin.”

The Chargers, who also swept Galeries Tower last Saturday, April 6, elevated their record to 4-5 for 12 points at seventh place.
To book a trip to the next round, Akari must wrap up each of its last two assignments in four sets or less, while praying that Creamline, Cignal and Chery Tiggo would not go over the 18-point mark.
Clinging to such a slim hope, Sharma and the Chargers are leaving no stone unturned, striving to turn their hard work into tangible results.
“Nagt-tiyaga kami and everyone keeps showing up and they keep working hard and hopefully, these remaining games, ma-showcase na namin 'yung pinaghihirapan namin these past few months,” Sharma said.
Akari now sets its sights on its faceoff with the Crossovers on April 20, Saturday, before closing out the preliminaries against the Strong Group Athletics on April 27, Tuesday.
