Despite the Cignal HD Spikers' fightback, the Creamline Cool Smashers just had too much firepower in the end to stay spotless in PVL All-Filipino play.
Creamline was steady when it mattered, foiling Cignal, 25-19, 26-24, 23-25, 23-25, 15-9 to stay unbeaten in seven tries in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig Saturday, Feb. 1.
The Cool Smashers showed their championship composure when it mattered to nullify the efforts of the HD Spikers, who climbed from a 0-2 set deficit in their attempt to pull off the stunner.
Instead, Cignal absorbed its second-straight defeat for a 5-3 mark.
After the HD Spikers pulled level and forced the decider, Creamline buckled down to work, building a 4-1 lead behind Tots Carlos and Bernadeth Pons.
With momentum now back on its side, the Grand Slam champ hiked its advantage to 11-5 after Jema Galanza’s cross-court hit.
Cignal could not be easily shaken off as it countered with a 3-1 blitz to cut its deficit to three, but Pons scored two of the team’s final three points to ensure the victory for the Cool Smashers.
