Regina Jurado determined to prove self further as Season 85 progresses

As the UST Golden Tigresses hammered on the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Wednesday, it was clear the team from España has been relying on their young ones to lead them to victory.

With the Golden Tigresses having seven rookies in the roster, it’s easy to see this season as a welcoming stage to the UAAP, but don’t tell that to Regina Jurado.

The rookie opposite hitter has been crucial in some of UST’s win like the one they had over Ateneo. She poured in a game-high 15 points, including 3 aces in their win versus the Blue Eagles.

Still, Jurado knows there’s still plenty to prove, especially with the expectations set by their team captain Eya Laure.

“May learnings po akong nakukuha, sana madala ko siya as the season progresses,” said Jurado. “Pagbubutihan ko po na ma-sustain ko 'yung expectations ni ate (Eya Laure) sa akin.”

Laure, meanwhile, lauded Jurado and the other UST rookies for making their lives easier on the court.

“Siyempre masaya kasi alam mo 'yun, dedepensa ka na lang, siya na 'yung papatay. Parang dun ka na lang magfo-focus eh,” said Laure.

UST will look to go for its third straight win to end the first round against the still winless UE Lady Warriors on Saturday, March 18.
