Dad’s got her back all the time.
The University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses exited Season 85 of UAAP women’s volleyball with a four-set defeat in the semifinals at the hands of the top-seeded De La Salle University Lady Archers. With their elimination comes the uncertainty of star player Eya Laure’s future in UST. The high-scoring 24-year-old will be entering his 5th year in España should she decide to come back.
Before the big game on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, former PBA cager and Eya’s father, Eddie Laure sent a message of support pertaining to his daughter’s current and future endeavors.
“Ate, whatever happens, good luck sa game mo. Good luck sa career mo,” the 13-year PBA veteran said.
Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on the side of Eya and her squad as they failed to force a do-or-die contest against the tournament’s number 1 team. Nevertheless, her dad’s words will still be applicable whatever career-path she chooses to take.
“Gaya nga ng sinasabi ko sa’yo, ibigay mo lang ‘yung best mo every time, every practice, every game, para wala kang pagisisihan ‘pag dating sa dulo. Good luck sa career mo,” the elder Laure concluded.
Eya has been a standout in almost every stage of her volleyball life. She was a girls MVP in UST high school. She’s also made the national team a couple of times. And just this UAAP season, she showed just how good she is as she top-scored for the Tigresses in spectacular fashion. The options are plenty for Laure when it comes to next phase of her career.
Of course, Keeping her old man’s wise words within should only help her moving forward.
