Harold Alarcon has always been a solid piece in the UP Fighting Maroons’ powerhouse core. In UAAP Season 86, the scrappy guard has been stepping up more than ever for the Diliman-based squad. At any given game, he can catch fire, score in bunches, and ultimately drop a 20-piece. In fact, he has been one of the main guys who have helped UP zoom to the top of the standings so far.
In the past two games, however, the former NU Bullpup has shot only 7-for-20 from the field. Although the Fighting Maroons won both times to amass an 8-1 record, Alarcon appears to be fully aware that he needs to shoot more efficiently for his team to remain as tournament rulers.
On Monday, the 6-foot-1 cager took to Instagram to perhaps psych himself up amid his second-round shooting woes.
“If you can live making shots, you should be able to live missing shots,” Alarcon posted.
In an instant, he got a perfect assist from Ateneo Blue Eagles libero Roma Mae Doromal.
“Nice caption, idol,” she commented.
In case you didn’t know, Ateneo's standout floor defender and Alarcon are currently dating. Naturally, Doromal was in full supportive girlfriend mode.
Doromal’s three-word pep talk might just be what the doctor ordered to get Alarcon back on track. Well, it better be because the Fighting Maroons will next take on the surging La Salle Green Archers led by MVP frontrunner Kevin Quiambao.
The highly anticipated showdown will take place on November 5 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
