De La Salle University continues its hunt for a twice-to-beat advantage after sweeping the University of the East, 25-17, 25-11, 25-21, in the UAAP Season 86 men's volleyball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao on Tuesday, April 9.
Coming off a dominant win over the University of the Philippines last Thursday, the Green Spikers continued their strong form with another rout against the Red Warriors.
In the third set, UE managed to keep in pace with La Salle, who fielded in some of its bench players. But the trio of Noel Kampton, Jules De Jesus, and Rui Ventura proved too be too much in the endgame.
Kampton finished with a game-high 17 points on 76% attack efficiency while Vince Maglinao and Nath Del Pilar added eight and seven points, respectively.
With the win, the Green Spikers climbed to a 7-3 record, just one game behind National University. The Red Warriors, on the other hand, have been officially eliminated from Final Four contention as they slide to a 1-9 record.
Angelo Reyes was UE's lone double-digit scorer with 11 markers.
In the first game, Far Eastern University remains atop the standings after downing Adamson University in straight sets, 25-17, 25-17, 25-22.
