The UST Growling Tigers will have a chance for a rare home game in UAAP Season 87 as they will be facing the Ateneo Blue Eagles at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion for their round 2 encounter on Saturday, October 19.

But before Forthsky Padrigao leads the Tigers’ offense against his former team, the España squad first heads to the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday, October 16, for a battle with defending champions La Salle.

With only two game days this week owing to changes to the schedule, let’s look closely at the matchups for Week 2 of the second round of UAAP Season 87.

October 16 (Wednesday) - Mall of Asia Arena

NU vs FEU - 4:00 p.m.

Two win-hungry teams are set to open the curtain on men’s basketball action on Wednesday as the NU Bulldogs and the FEU Tamaraws are seeking their third win of the season in the first game of the double-header.

FEU (2-6) is coming off a big win over the Adamson Soaring Falcons, and the Tamaraws are looking to continue their momentum with a more experienced team under head coach Sean Chambers.

NU (2-6), meanwhile, is coming off of a tough loss against Ateneo and the Bulldogs will be eager to get back to their winning ways.

UST vs La Salle - 6:00 p.m.

The UST Growling Tigers (4-4) face the tough challenge of trying to bounce back from their loss against UP as they face a streaking DLSU Green Archers (7-1) squad in the main game on Wednesday.

Fighting for position in the Final Four picture, UST will be hard-pressed to get back on the winning track, but La Salle star Kevin Quiambao will be eager to recover from a sub-par performance from him against the UE Red Warriors.

After snapping the Red Warriors’ win streak, the Green Archers are the hottest team in the league and have won four games in a row, the champs will certainly want to push through with their winning run.

October 19 (Saturday) - UST Quadricentennial Pavilion

UST vs Ateneo - 12:00 p.m.

UST fans will be in for a treat as they are set to host their Growling Tigers in their second round encounter against the Ateneo Blue Eagles (2-6) inside the Quadricentennial Pavilion.

Scores of UST supporters are expected to fill in the stands as Padrigao and the Growling Tigers aim to repeat over the Blue Eagles, who have found new momentum after their tough win over NU in their last game.

The rare home game tips things off for the men’s double-header at UST.

Adamson vs La Salle - 3:30 p.m.

Another skidding team in Adamson (3-5) will be trying their luck to get back on the win column as the Falcons face the DLSU Green Archers in the second men’s game on Saturday in UST.

Already on a three-game slide, head coach Nash Racela’s boys will try their hardest to get the win to avoid sliding out of the Final Four picture even further.

As standings get tighter in the midfield, the Soaring Falcons will try to gain ground against a hot DLSU team.
