Ateneo ended its three-game skid with a 71-67 victory over the UE Red Warriors in their UAAP Season 87 matchup on November 13 at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.
Despite being out of Final Four contention, the Blue Eagles (4-9) showed resilience, handing UE its fourth consecutive loss and denying the Red Warriors an outright Final Four berth.
Andrew Bongo led the way for Ateneo, delivering 15 points, six rebounds, and two assists with a game-high +17 efficiency. His performance set the tone for a gritty game that saw Ateneo fend off multiple UE rallies.
The Red Warriors, now 6-7, missed the presence of foreign student-athlete Precious Momowei, who served a one-game suspension. They still have a chance to make the Final Four but will need to regroup after this setback.
