The Creamline Cool Smashers continue their unbeaten run in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference after overcoming the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles in a five-set thriller, 25-22, 28-30, 26-24, 17-25, 15-13, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Thursday, December 12.

The Cool Smashers are now 4-0 in the standings, tied with the Cignal HD Spikers as the only undefeated teams in the conference.

The Thunderbelles, on the other hand, were dealt their second-straight loss for a 2-3 record.

After forcing a fifth set, ZUS Coffee continued to pile on the pressure led by Chai Trongcoso and Mich Gamit for an 8-6 lead.

Despite the efforts of Jema Galanza and Bernadeth Pons, Kate Santiago continued to keep the Thunderbelles afloat with their two-point lead.

But an attack from Pons and an error by Thea Gagate tied the match at 11-all.

The no. 1 overall pick in the 2024 PVL Draft gave the lead back to ZUS Coffee, which was quickly countered by Galanza.

Tied at 12-all, Gamit’s running attack failed to get past the net, leading to a Creamline lead.

Trongcoso would tie the game once more before Galanza put the Cool Smashers at match point.

Cloanne Mondonedo would try one more running attack with Gamit but her running attack went wide.

Alyssa Valdez was hailed the Player of the Game with 17 points on 16 attacks and one block.

Creamline will be return on January 21 as they test the Capital1 Solar Spikers still at the PhilSports Arena.

Meanwhile, ZUS Coffee aims to get back on track on January 18 when they face the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in the same venue.
