La Salle vents ire on UP as Ramil de Jesus beats former deputy Benson Bocboc in first UAAP showdown

Angel Canino powered the DLSU Lady Spikers to a bounce back win Sunday, beating the UP Fighting Maroons in four sets, 25-22, 24-26, 25-18, 25-17, in their first round encounter in UAAP Season 87 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Canino followed up her triple-double effort in the loss against UST last time out with 24 points in the victory over the Fighting Maroons.

La Salle rebounded after an extended set loss to UP in set 2, with Irah Jaboneta saving one set point, 24-all, befoere the Lady Spikers committed two errors to get the Fighting Maroons on the board.

But in the decisive fourth set, it was all La Salle as the Lady Spikers seized the win with a sizzling 9-2 run to end the match.

Shevana Laput provided the finishing touch with a back row hit. Laput added 21 points in the victory.

Lilay Del Castillo provided scoring as well with 11 points — built off of three attacks, four aces, and four blocks.

Jaboneta and Joan Monares both had all-around games for UP in the losing effort.

Jaboneta finished with 15 points, eight excellent digs and 11 excellent receptions, while Monares had 11 points, nine excellent digs, and eight excellent receptions.

La Salle and UP both have 2-2 slates, with the latter is in the midst of a two-game losing streak.
