The Lady Spikers are deadset for the championship.
The La Salle Lady Spikers remain on target for Season 85: the volleyball championship.
They fell short in UAAP Season 84, falling to the powerhouse National University Lady Bulldogs in straight sets in the finals. Team captain and setter Marionne Alba, along with outside spiker Jolina Dela Cruz will be the vanguard of this squad this time around.
"Ako na and Marionne 'yung ate talaga ng team na 'to," Dela Cruz told the UAAP Varsity Channel. "Nag-grow kami na mag-lead ng team."
While the ate of a family usually has to deal with unruly siblings, the fifth-best receiver of Season 84 thankfully didn't get a lot of headaches with the Lady Spikers.
"Kung ano 'yung nakikita nila sa amin, sumusunod naman sila," she said. "'Di naman mahirap pasunurin 'yung mga bata dahil 'di naman matitigas 'yung mga ulo nila."
"Masarap silang kasama kasi kung ano 'yung gusto niyo, gagawin nila. Wala namang lumilihis ng daan."
While the Lady Spikers still got their sights on the championship this year, Dela Cruz just hopes everyone in the squad will be injury-free.
La Salle will first see action on February 26, as the runner-ups will face fourth placer UST at 2 PM.
