Many fans are looking forward to what happens next with Edu.
On to the next chapter of his life!
After four years with the Toledo Rockets, Gilas Pilipinas big man AJ Edu has officially graduated from college.
Edu shared this momentous occasion on his social media page.
The 6-foot-10 Cypriot-born Filipino hooper had an outstanding start to his college career as recorded 57 blocks in the 2018-2019 season, the most by a freshman in program history.
Edu was also named to the Mid-American Conference (MAC) All-Freshman Team.
Injuries, however, derailed Edu’s college career after suffering an ACL and meniscal tear on his knee during the 2019 FIBA Under-19 World Cup.
The following year, Edu tore his meniscus and missed the rest of the season. The year after that, the agile big man tore his left ACL during practice.
This season, Edu got to play all 35 games for Toledo, averaging 2.8 points and 3.0 rebounds on a 49.2% shooting.
Despite all that, many Gilas fans are still high on Edu and his potential as a serviceable big man especially on the defensive side.
Edu was even included in the 28-man pool of Gilas for the Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia. Coach Chot Reyes has also floated Edu's name in the pool for the upcoming FIBA World Cup.
For now, fans will wait what’s next for the promising Filipino big man.
