In between practice and tune-up games, Abai wears vlogger hat in Europe.
It’s no secret that San Miguel Beermen superstar June Mar Fajardo and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel big man Japeth Aguilar are BFFs, outside the court and DOTA.
That friendship also spills over to Gilas Pilipinas’ trips abroad, including the one in Lithuania.
Like giddy children who broke free from their parents, the basketball buddies strolled around the European city.
“Parang High Street sa BGC,” said Aguilar.
At one point during their stroll spanning more or less 17 minutes, they chanced upon Gilas coaches Chot Reyes and Tim Cone. After a brief encounter, the Gilas Twin Towers walked on and resumed their trip.
As they strolled, it appeared Fajardo craved for coffee and asked his partner if he brought some money with him. Aguilar did not.
“May dala ka bang Euro diyan?” he said.
Eventually, it was the Triple Towers strolling, as they were able to bring along young big AJ Edu.
In a separate video, the three marvelled at the city lit up at night.
It’s not the first time the roommates did something touristy during their Eastern Europe training camp, though.
Since landing in Estonia in their first leg, the two indulged in the same activity.
The BFFs even collected plastic bottles in exchange for money. They got a little over a euro for 13 bottles and bought something sweet from the convenience store.
Fajardo and Aguilar squeezed in activities like these in between practice and tune-up games as part of their buildup for the FIBA World Cup in Manila this August.
So far, Reyes likes what he’s seeing after winning two out of four friendlies. But it’s still far from what they envision the team would be come the conclave among the best basketball countries.
“We’re still a long ways off. We are not programmed to be at the top level at this point. This is still a learning process, getting our feet under us,” he told One Sports’ Carlo Pamintuan.
