The DLSU Lady Spikers were the ones to extend their win streak in a battle of red-hot teams, as they doused the FEU Lady Tamaraws in a shock sweep, 25-17, 25-20, 25-22. It was a stunning way to end their first round in UAAP Season 87 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.

In a battle of potential Final Four contenders, La Salle finally showed up in dangerous form--dominating FEU across the board.

Shevana Laput unloaded 22 points in three sets to power the DLSU Lady Spikers to end the first round with a 5-2 record. Angel Canino added an all-around effort of 10 points, seven excellent digs, and eight excellent receptions.

La Salle staved off a determined FEU side to complete the sweep in Set 3 after creating distance with back-to-back aces from Alleiah Malaluan to give La Salle a three-point lead, 22-19.

Rookie setter Mikole Reyes provided the finishing blow with a smart 1-2 play.

La Salle thus ended FEU’s three-game winning streak.

Faida Bakanke paced FEU in the losing effort with nine markers. FEU ends the round at 4-3.
