Just 13 days to go before the FIBA World Cup and Gilas Pilipinas has yet to announce its Final 12 for the tournament.

All eyes are on coach Chot Reyes and the rest of the Gilas coaching staff on who would be the players left out from the roster.

Promising big man AJ Edu, for one, admitted that he will be disappointed if not selected for the final lineup, but also vowed his full support for the national team.

“I think there'll be an element of disappointment, but at the end of the day, it's just been a blessing to be part of this pool, part of this training camp,” Edu told Noli Eala in Radyo5's Power and Play.

“Even if you're not in the final 12, you are part of the journey to get everyone there. The team would have my full support,” he added.

Edu has been showing flashes of brilliance for Gilas, especially during their recent trip to China for a pocket tournament.

The 23-year-old center is coming back from consecutive knee injuries dating from 2019.

But now that he’s back and healthy, Edu is once again showing out, putting himself in prime consideration for the FIBA World Cup lineup.

But whether he makes it to the lineup or not, Edu knows that every one of them will be in full support of the team during the tournament.

“I think we've all just built that chemistry and built that teamwork that I don't feel that there will be too much disappointment for whoever makes it and whoever doesn't,” said Edu.

Currently, there are 15 players in the Gilas pool—16 if Scottie Thompson, who is still recovering from a hand injury, is included.

If all goes well, Edu might just be selected to take on some of the best big men in the world come the FIBA World Cup.
