Dwight Ramos missed seven games for Levanga Hokkaido in Japan's B.LEAGUE after suffering an early-season injury back in October.
Dwight Ramos returning to action in Japan’s B.LEAGUE is not only a welcome development for Levanga Hokkaido, but also for Gilas Pilipinas.
After suffering an injury two games into the 2024-25 B1 season, Ramos finally returned to the court this weekend, guiding Hokkaido to back-to-back wins against Kiefer Ravena and the Yokohama B-Corsairs.
Ramos played limited minutes during his first game back Saturday, but was promptly unleashed in the second game Sunday.
In Sunday’s 77-69 win, Dwight scored a season-high 19 points while playing over 25 minutes.
“Yesterday's game was my first in a long time, so I was probably a little tired from the excitement, but my condition was better today,” Ramos said.
On the part of Gilas Pilipinas, the national team expects Ramos to be reporting for duty once training camp begins for the second window of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers.
“Dwight sustained a minor injury couple of weeks back so he didn’t play for a couple of games,” Gilas Pilipinas team manager Richard del Rosario said of Ramos, who ended up missing a total of seven games in the B1 due to his injury.
“Talked to his agent and said he’s well on his way to recover. We expect him to be part [of the team] when the training camp begins. He’ll be part of it.”
The Philippines will host both games in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers later this month with New Zealand coming to town on November 21, followed by Hong Kong on November 24.
