Kai Sotto will be expected to once again play a key role in Gilas Pilipinas’ match against tormentor New Zealand in the second window of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers.
Kai Sotto is cleared to play for Gilas Pilipinas in the second window of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers.
Gilas team manager Richard del Rosario confirmed this to One Sports days after Sotto was put under concussion protocol by the Japan B.LEAGUE.
"Yes he is cleared to play,” del Rosario said via text message.

Sotto was on the receiving on of an inadvertent hit from Yokohama reinforcement Damian Inglis in the third period of Koshigaya’s win last Nov. 9.
Now, the 7-foot-3 center has completed the necessary steps to be able to represent the country in the Nov. 21-24 window at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Sotto, who is leading Gilas in rebounds with 12.5 boards per game, will be expected to once again play a key role as the Nationals take on a big and strong New Zealand team on Nov. 21.
Three days later, Gilas will host Hong Kong at the same venue.
Gilas currently holds a 2-0 win-loss record for a share of the top spot in Group B with the Tall Blacks.
The Philippines has yet to win a game against New Zealand after four meetings.
