The young booters hope to make history as well.
It’s full steam ahead for the Philippines' under-17 women's national football team as the buildup for the upcoming 2024 AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers continues.
The U17 squad recently arrived in Guam as part of the training camp for the tournament.
Prior to that, the young Filipinas competed in the JENESYS U17 Women’s Football Memorial Cup, where they finished with a 2-2 record.
The Philippines, led by coach Alen Stajcic, will face Guam and Lebanon in Group G of the qualifiers scheduled on April 22 and 26, respectively.
Should the teenage Filipinas top Group G, they will move on the second stage of the competition, which is another round of group play.
From that, the top eight nations will advance to the tournament proper. They will battle for the four spots up for grabs.
Back in 2017, the U17 squad marched on to the second round of the qualifiers but failed to move on to the final tournament itself.
Could this be the year for the young Filipinas?
