This is the second time the Philippines was included in EA's FIFA game.
Imagine this: The Philippine women's national football team against defending champions Team USA in the FIFA Women's World Cup finals.
It's surreal to think about. It's certainly a dream for the Filipinas entering their first-ever World Cup next month.
But the Philippines-USA match-up could definitely happen—in a video game.
Video game company Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) announced the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 as a title update for the FIFA 23 video game, playable on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X or S, Xbox One, and PC.
According to EA, you can play against friends locally or against the CPU AI. You can choose to enter in any stage of the competition, and you can rock with any of the 32 qualified squads—including the Philippines.
FIFA 23 also gives gamers the choice to play as any star player from the 32 teams or create your own avatar.
Philippine striker Sarina Bolden shared a video clip of the game on Instagram.
"Manifesting that I actually score like this one day," Bolden wrote on her IG story.
This is the second time a Philippine squad has been featured in a FIFA game. The Azkals were included in the EA SPORTS 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. Over 200 teams which participated in the qualification were made playable.
