Another Alyssa is making a name for herself.
All is not lost.
Philippines exited Leg 2 of the SEA VLeague without a win. The young national squad, however, will take home something positive from its tour of duty in Chiang Mai, Thailand. On Sunday, Alyssa Solomon’s excellent play for the Filipino side did not go for naught as she was named Best Opposite Spiker in the second stop of the tournament.
It was a huge accomplishment for the 21-year-old NU Lady Bulldog. Her teammates along with some of the country’s biggest volleyball stars made sure to let her know about it. On Instagram, Solomon shared the encouraging messages she received from the luminaries of the game.
Current NU teammate Sheena Toring and Jacqueline Acuña of the Cignal HD Spikers agreed that it was a sheeshable moment for Solomon.
“Sssheesh! grabe ka, dear,” Toring posted, which Acuña echoed.
Fellow national team member and Lady Bulldog Bella Belen invented a word to show her support for the 6-foot-1 opposite hitter.
“Dasurvability,” Belen wrote over a picture of the awarding ceremony.
Aby Maraño of the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers chimed in and gave Solomon her flowers.
“Yass, dassuurrvv mo, bebekors. Proud tyang here,” the F2 captain said.
Another F2 Logistics star in Ivy Lacsina greeted Solomon, whom she won a title with back in Season 84 of the UAAP.
“Nice, one gentle giant,” posted Lacsina.
Sports anchor Boom Gonzalez also showed his appreciation of Alyssa’s accomplishment on the international stage.
“Congratulations,” he simply wrote.
Solomon has been showing out, both as a member of the Lady Bulldogs and the national squad. Expect her to keep making headlines in her future stints with the Philippine contingent.
