Anthony Davis’ blockbuster move to Dallas is official.

The Mavericks announced the acquisition of the All-NBA forward late Sunday night (PHL), hours after it was reported that Dallas and the Los Angeles Lakers engaged in a mega trade centered around Davis and Luka Doncic.

“The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they acquired 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis, guard Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick from the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for guard Luka Doncic, forward/center Maxi Kleber and forward/center Markieff Morris,” the team said in a statement.

The trade, first reported by NBA Insider Shams Charania, involved the Utah Jazz as a third team.

Davis, who won the NBA title in 2020 with the Lakers, is currently dealing with an abdominal strain suffered during a January 28 Lakers’ loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Nevertheless, Davis is averaging 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.1 blocks. He was leading the Lakers in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks at the time of the trade.

Meanwhile, Max Christie is averaging 8.5 points, 2.7 assists, and 1.4 steals, coming into his own as a starter for the Lakers.
