The Landslide eyes career reboot in match against a familiar foe.
Eduard “Landslide” Folayang is eager to prove he still has a lot of gas left in his tank.
That begins with a rematch against a familiar foe in Amir Khan on September 30 as part of the cards under ONE Fight Night 14: Stamp vs Ham.
The two seasoned warriors, who figured in the ONE lightweight world title match that the Filipino fighter won five years ago, tackle each other at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Folayang sees this return as an “opportunity to rewrite my story.”
“This fight represents so much more than just a battle in the circle; it's a shot at redemption, a golden opportunity to rewrite my story, and a chance to open a new, exhilarating chapter in my career,” he said in a statement.
The Landslide left Team Lakay back in March and formed a new stable called Lions Nation. And he couldn’t wait to show his wares after training with the pack’s bemedalled Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt Gibran Langabayan and Don-Don Colas.
“I’m ready to showcase the culmination of my hard work, to seize this chance to prove that setbacks are just setups for comebacks,” said the 39-year-old, who is also coming off a two-month sojourn in the United States where he trained with renowned coaches Greg Jackson and Mike Winklejohn of Jackson Wink MMA and Rafael Cordeiro of King’s MMA.
He added: “The road to this moment has been grueling, but it's in this adversity that I've found the strength to push forward.”
Folayang will get to prove his point in about a month and change.
