Thirdy Ravena and his NeoPhoenix are on a heater right now in Japan.
To say that the San-en NeoPhoenix are on a breakout year would be an understatement.
At the halfway point of the 2023-24 season, the NeoPhoenix are 27-4, tied for first in all of Japan.
San-en is on track for its best season in the B.League ever, certainly the best since the B.League’s first official season in 2016-2017, when they won 33 games and made the playoffs.
Those 33 wins should certainly fall in a matter of time. The NeoPhoenix are on a heater right now, winning nine straight games.
That streak is their club record.
“Very happy, it’s been a long time coming,” San-en guard Thirdy Ravena said in a previous media availability regarding the NeoPhoenix record.
In his fourth season, Thirdy is a big part of his team’s rise.
Ravena is averaging a career-high 12.9 points per game for San-en this season. In the record nine-game streak, Thirdy is going for a solid 12.5 points per outing.
To further emphasize the strong play from Thirdy and the NeoPhoenix overall, in the middle of this nine-game run, San-en won four straight against the Chiba Jets and the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins, two playoff teams from last year.
“I’ve been here for four years now and ngayon lang kami nagkaroon ng ganitong klaseng record,” Thirdy said, again noting his team’s rise.
“So it’s a great feeling to play well and have a great record as well. Sana tuluy-tuloy lang.”
