Nothing but love from Superman!
It wasn’t the ending that Strong Group Athletics had hoped for in the 33rd Dubai International Basketball Tournament.
After fighting their way through the group stage and playoffs, SGA ultimately fell short against Lebanon’s Al Riyadi after a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Ismail Abdelmoneim.
Despite the tough loss in the finale, Strong Group big man Dwight Howard had nothing but positives from this latest experience of his representing the Philippines.
In a social media post, the former NBA champion lauded the team’s effort despite being formed in just a short span of time.
“We came together for 2 weeks, only had a few practices together and fought all the way to the championship,” wrote Howard.
Howard also showed some love to Strong Group head coach Charles Tiu, as well as to the Filipinos that continued to support the team.
“Charles Tiu is a great coach and The Philippines is a great country,” said Howard. “Thank you all for having me and allowing me to represent your country.”
During his time in the Philippines, Howard made sure to give back and spend some time with fans and embrace the culture.

Given his strong performance in the tournament, which included multiple double-double games, this likely won’t be the last time that Howard will be called up to play or represent the Philippines.
