The Cignal HD Spikers and the D'Navigators Iloilo remain perched atop their respective pools in the PNVF Champions League after dispatching their assignments on Tuesday.

Jao Umandal and the HD Spikers picked up their second consecutive win, sweeping the PGJC Philippine Navy, 25-15, 25-21, 27-25, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Umandal carried the cudgels with 19 points built on 15 attacks, three blocks and an ace for Cignal, the only undefeated team in Pool A with a 2-0 card.

The HD Spikers pounced on PGJC's slow start, seizing control in the first two sets. However, Joeven Dela Vega and Greg Dolor did not allow the Navy to go down without a fight in the third frame.

Staring down a precarious 19-23 deficit, Dela Vega and Dolor put up crucial blows that knotted the count at 24-all. Both teams then traded punches before Umandal delivered the finishing touches.

Bugaoan contributed nine points in the winning cause, while Lloyd Josafat and Wendel Miguel supplied six apiece.

On the other hand, Dela Vega and Dolor poured out 16 and 13 markers, respectively, as the Navy stayed winless in two matches.

Meanwhile, the D'Navigators Iloilo tightened their grip of the top seed in Pool B after making short work of Philippine Army, 25-18, 25-22, 25-19.

The straight-set victory extended Iloilo's undefeated run to three games.

Holding a two-set buffer, the D'Navigators dictated the tempo and built a 22-19 cushion. John Ben San Andres then pummeled two consecutive hits before Francis Saura nailed the clincher.

San Andres fired a game-high 17 points while Kyle Villamor supplemented 11 markers for Iloilo, which also strung 10 points apiece from Abdurasad Nursiddik and Jayvee Sumagaysay.

Net defense proved to be the biggest difference as D'Navigators put up a 11-4 block disparity over Army, which remained winless in two matches.

Edward Camposano and Mark Enciso managed 16 and 13 points in a lost cause.

In the other match of the day, the VNS Asereht Griffins outlasted the Philippine Air Force in four sets, 25-17, 28-30, 25-21, 31-29, to keep hold of second place in the Pool B standings with a 2-1 slate.

Fresh off a morale-boosting win over Philippine Army a day ago, the Griffins drew spirited performances from the troika of Charles Jordan Segui, Kevin Montemayor and Kenneth Culabat,

Segui churned out a 22-point outing, all but one coming from attacks, while Montemayor and Culabat put up 21 markers apiece.

The three provided the Griffins with enough firepower to fend off the Ranran Abdilla-led Air Force, which fell to the bottom of Pool B with a 0-2 card.

Abdilla paced the losing side with 19 points as Pol Gringo Salvador and James Buytrago scored 16 and 12, respectively.
