Paris-bound Eumir Marcial will compete in his fifth professional bout on March 23 right in the Philippines.
Olympic boxing bronze medalist Eumir Marcial has come home, and he's offering a match Pinoys can witness for free.
The 2023 Asian Games silver medalist will be competing in his fifth professional bout, against Thoedsak Sinam of Thailand on March 23. It will take place at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
In a Facebook video, the Zamboanga native asked Filipinos and boxing enthusiasts to support his first fight at home.
“Nandito na kami sa airport, pauwi ng Pilipinas. At sobrang excited na po ako sa darating kong laban sa March 23 at Ninoy Aquino Stadium, mga idols! Sa lahat po ng sumusuporta sa akin, mga solid EM diyan, see you, mga idol,” Marcial said.
“Libre lang po yung ticket, punta lang po kayo dun sa stadium. Yung laban ko 9 PM,” he added.
Marcial is currently in Tagaytay for his training.
The 28-year-old Pinoy southpaw is undefeated in four professional bouts, two coming via technical knockouts.
His 28-year-old opponent fights in an orthodox stance and bears a 23-13 record. Nineteen of those wins came via TKO, including the last two against fellow Thais.
Marcial’s match against the Thai boxer will serve as his last bout before going full speed in the training for the Paris Olympics. He will be joined in the Summer Games by fellow pugilists Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas, along with pole vaulter EJ Obiena, as well as gymnasts Carlos Yulo and Aleah Finnegan.
Marcial's homecoming match will be available to free to the public. It will also be aired on One Sports, One Sports+, and Pilipinas Live.
