Thirdy Ravena was the pioneer of the young basketball athlete exodus in the Philippines, becoming the first Filipino player in the Japan B.League Asian Quota.
Thirdy Ravena, the first Filipino player as part of the Japan B.League Asian Quota, was hailed as the league's Impressive Asia Player of the Year on Friday.
Ravena spent four seasons with San-en NeoPhoenix, and would now be entering free agency.
"I'd like to thank the B.League for giving me this award. I want to thank my family for supporting me all throughout my life. I'd like to thank my team, my club, for the trust and the relationship we've had these last four years," Ravena said as he accepted the award.
"To all of our fans, the B.League fans, thank you for your support. I hope you guys continue to support your teams. We'll see you next season," he added.
Ravena helped the NeoPhoenix finish at the top of the Central Division and enter the playoffs as the number two seed. However, they were eliminated in the quarterfinals by eventual champions Hiroshima Dragonflies.
