Oscar Piastri is a Grand Prix winner in Formula 1.

The Australian driver, in his second season with McLaren, claimed victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix Sunday, but not without some tense team back-and-forth late in the race with teammate Lando Norris.

After taking the lead at the start as Norris battled with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, Piastri was mostly in control and looked primed for a comfortable victory.

However, McLaren pitted Norris first at lap 46, which ended up undercutting Piastri. As Oscar made his own pit stop at lap 48, he came out behind his teammate.

The final stretch of the race then turned into drama for the two McLaren drivers, with the team repeatedly asking Norris to give the position back to Piastri.

Despite building a six-second lead, Norris eventually followed team orders and  swapped on lap 68. Piastri took the victory from there, becoming the seventh driver this season to win a Grand Prix.

The McLaren 1-2 is the first for the team since 2021, or since Daniel Ricciardo won at Monza ahead of Norris.

Elsewhere, Lewis Hamilton followed up his victory as Silverstone with a P3 for Mercedes, marking the 200th podium of his career.
