Win or lose, Danny “The King” Kingad believes he’s in the best place to nurture his skills and grow as a person – Lions Nation MMA.

Among those who jumped ship from Team Lakay to the newest gym in the highlands formed by two-time ONE Lightweight MMA World Champion Eduard Folayang, it was only Kingad who came from a win before losing his first fight with black-and-gold trunks.

As alarming as that may be, Kingad’s faith in his team hasn’t shaken.

“They always have my back,” Kingad said.

“They’re there to help me, and kuya Eduard has been so hands-on when it comes to us. From the game plan to what we’ll be doing in the gym, he’s really a teacher. That’s what we get from Lions Nation MMA.”

With that said, he’s confident that he can find his breakthrough when he returns in another high-profile match in a few months.

Kingad takes on former ONE Flyweight MMA World Champion and old foe Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes at ONE 169: Atlanta on November 9 inside State Farm Arena in Georgia, and he believes that this is the perfect time to erase all doubts regarding his move to join his friends.

“I wouldn’t trade this situation for anything. This team is in my heart now. They’ve been so helpful and I have to give it back by winning this match. This team needs it, and I need it more,” he said.

The 28-year-old looked far from the fighter who dominated Eko Roni Saputra in his last match for Team Lakay when he had a lackluster showing against Yuya Wakamatsu in his Lions Nation MMA debut.

But Kingad attributed that to his inability to recover after the amount of work that he put into training for that fight with his team.

“I don’t think I had a problem during training in my last fight, but my recovery prior to the fight really screwed me up,” he said.

He promises to learn from it and come back stronger against the man who derailed his world title hopes back in 2017.  “That’s something that I will have to focus on in this coming fight with Adriano,” he said.

“It won’t happen again this time around.”
