Jerwin Ancajas made a triumphant ring return after beating Sukpraserd Ponpitak via disqualification in the Manny Pacquiao Presents: Blow by Blow on Sunday, September 22.

Ancajas, who was coming off a loss to Takuma Inoue for the WBA bantamweight title last February, spiked his record to 35-4-2, including 23 knockouts.

The officials came to the DQ decision after the Thai fighter committed six takedowns, including two in the fifth round with still 2:34 remaining.

It was an anticlimactic ending to what initially looked like a breezy fight for Ancajas.

The 32-year-old Filipino former world champion spent most of the opening salvo sizing up his Thai foe, before springing a right counter to knock him down in the 40-second mark.

While Ancajas continued battering Ponpitak for most of the way, Jerwin just could not put the resilient visitor away before ultimately settling for the DQ win.

"Nagulat din po ako sa style niya," said Ancajas after the match at the packed Mandaluyong City College Gymnasium.

Earlier, Gabriel Santisima needed only less than two rounds to dispatch Jelo Bacalso via knockout.

Santisima lured Bacalso to throw the two-punch combination before unleashing the right hook that went straight to the latter's chin in the second round.
