Eman Bacosa emerged victoriuous against Rodelyn Perez as the second generation boxing star improved his pro-boxing record to 5-0.
Eman Bacosa, son of Philippine boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, recently extended his win streak to five bouts as he emerged victorious in his latest fight in his father’s Blow-By-Blow program last weekend.
Bacosa, who fought in his fourth bout this year, took a majority decision win over Rodelyn Perez as part of the offerings of Manny Pacquiao Presents: Blow-By-Blow held Sunday evening at Okada Hotel.
The 20-year-old has five wins, one draw, and no losses in his young career and thus established himself among the up-and-coming lightweight prospects in the country.
After the fight, Bacosa said that he felt blessed to have his family — including Pacquaio himself as promoter, supported him in his latest fight.
“[I feel] so blessed. Tapos kasi nandito rin po kasi 'yung family ko, lahat pumunta sila para sumuporta po sa akin. Napaksaya po ng puso ko.” he said in an interview with
News5.
Known for his aggression and forward thinking in his fights, Bacosa was calmer and more calculated against Perez. More than wanting to eke out more punches, the second generation boxer was focused on hitting quality punches.
“Opo, 'yun po talaga 'yung tinuro po sakin ng coach ko. Ibalewala mo na yung dati 'yung ang daming suntok pero sablay sablay. Kaya sabi niya kalma lang, onti nalang babagsak na.” he quipped.
Moving forward, Bacosa expressed his desire to continue on his father’s path of enriching his talents in professional boxing.
But after Pacquiao himself failed to represent the Philippines in the Summer Games during his decorated career, Bacosa wants to explore that path for himself as well.
“Gusto ko rin po mag-focus sa pro boxing. Pero, pag-isipan ko rin po kung mago-Olympics ako.” he said.
Bacosa also said to look forward to more fights next year, after a busy 2024, he’s looking to do even more in 2025.
“Malapit na po [ang susunod kong laban]. Abangan niyo po. Maybe next year.” he said.
