The Manila MSW Mavericks secured a resounding victory over the Quezon City Dragons in a thrilling contest of the Philippines' first-ever professional billiard league, the Sharks Billiards Association (SBA), winning with a dominant score of 18-5.
After facing a tough loss to the Taguig Stallions, the Mavericks returned to form, displaying exceptional skill and tenacity throughout the tournament.
From October 14 to 18, the Mavericks made their presence felt in the King of the Hill 5 v 5 event. Tristan "Tining" Deocareza led the charge with an outstanding performance, achieving eight rack wins, 67 successful breaks, and an impressive overall rating of 96 percent.
The Dragons fought back on October 15 during the Sharks Double event, with Alexis "Damang" Ferrer and John Limuel "Rambo" Rebong showing their mettle. However, this was the only scoring opportunity for the Dragons in the matchup.
The Mavericks quickly regained their momentum on October 16 in the 1-on-1 event, continued their strong performance on October 17 in the Sharks Double, and capped off their success on October 18 in the King of the Hill.
Tristan Deocareza’s standout play earned him the title of Player of the Week. His accomplishments included two break-and-run victories, a 40 percent break success rate, 22 rack wins, and an overall rating of 90 percent.
