Ex-UP stalwart Carl Tamayo scores a big game as Changwon continues its hot streak with seven wins in a row in the KBL.
Carl Tamayo had an all-around game to help the Changwon LG Sakers extend their win streak to seven, beating the Suwon KT Sonicboom, 74-72, at the Changwon Gymnasium in the 2024-25 KBL season on Saturday.
Tamayo was one of three LG Sakers players in double digit scoring with 20 points, to go along with six rebounds and five assists in 30 minutes of play. He was behind only fellow import Assem Marei, who had a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds.
The LG Sakers ended the game on a 6-0 run to pull the rug from under Suwon and stretch their winning run to seven straight. They have also won eight of their last nine contests.
Changwon is currently at 12-10 for the season.
Elsewhere, SJ Belangel had an efficient game on 4-of-6 shooting to finish with 12 points, five assists, and one rebound, as the Daegu KOGAS Pegasus nipped the Goyang Sono Skygunners, 76-73, at the Daegu Gymnasium.
KOGAS have been up and down so far in the season as they currently tout a 13-9 record for third place.
Belangel backstopped Andrew Nicholson’s 31 big points in the Daegu win.
In the other KBL game, Javi Gomez de Liano played sparingly in Anyang KGC’s 100-78 loss to the Seoul Samsung Thunders as they are now losers of five straight.
Gomez de Liaño did not register any points, rebounds, or assists in less than three minutes of play.
Anyang is now dead last in the standings with a 7-16 slate for the season.
